Krishna Avanti Primary School welcomed league leaders Overdale for a game that would see one of the teams lose their 100% record, Overdale having won 7 out of 7 and Krishna Avanti Primary School 5 out of 5. Right from the start you could see quality in both sides in a game that went from end to end and probably had more goal kicks than any game before. The breakthrough came in the 7th minute when Dilan Chauhan was released and whilst it seemed the angle was too narrow to be dangerous, the little dynamo scored from almost the corner flag to put the hosts 1-0 ahead. Yogiraj Dixit kept the score at 1-0 with a wonder save from a great Overdale shot. The game continued to see lots of good passing and determined play and in the 33rd second of stoppage time in the first half, Krishna Avanti Primary School extended the lead with another from Dilan Chauhan. Whilst most would expect the home side to be finishing the half two-nil ahead, Overdale had different plans and scored just 20 seconds later to make it 2-1 to Krishna Avanti Primary School at half-time.
Overdale were certainly more aware of how to use the no corner rule, always playing it out to safety when under the cosh. The game continued to have lots of good passing football played and both keepers were busy. In the 7th minute of the second half Overdale’s threat to get the equaliser was realised when an uncharacteristic misplaced pass by the Krishna Avanti Primary School keeper gifted the ball straight to the Overdale striker who unsympathetically levelled the game at 2-2. This seemed to lift the Overdale team whilst affect the home team, resulting in three goals for the visitors in 3 minutes – Krishna Avanti Primary School fell apart and trailed 6-2 having lost a two goal advantage and looking good. Despite the scoreline, Krishna Avanti Primary School continued to attack and play for pride and very nearly pulled one back in the last minute- had their legs been longer, a great ball across the Overdale goalmouth would have been tapped in.
Overdale left 6-2 victors, inflicting Krishna Avanti Primary School’ first defeat of the season on them.
