Principals Update
A very big welcome back to the Autumn 2 term. I hope that you all took time to rest, relax and connect with your family and friends. From speaking to some of our pupils and staff, it was lovely to hear about their various Diwali celebrations.
Next week we look forward to welcoming back our Year 11 leavers to officially receive their GCSE certificates, but also celebrate achievement across the school. We will be inviting a small number of Year 8 to 11 pupils to the evening to also recognise their achievements last academic year.
Parking and drop off
We have noticed that a small number of parents are starting to use the Gurdwara car park to drop their pupils off at school in the morning. Please note that we do not have any parking agreements with the Gurdwara and request that parents continue to use Tesco as the designated park and stride location.
Mrs Bridgmohun’s return
Yesterday I shared with our community that Mrs Bridgmohun is well enough to return to work from Monday 11th November. Mrs Bridgmohun will be predominantly based at Avanti Fields next week, however Mrs Thakore and I will be working with Mrs Bridgmohun to discuss an opportunity for her to informally connect with the staff of Krishna Avanti and then later to connect with KAPS parents. For Avanti Fields families, you may begin to see her around the school next week.
Below is an organisation chart for the leadership roles at Avanti Fields, and will be in place until the end of the academic year.
With the return of Mrs Bridgmohun to our Avanti family, we will gain additional leadership capacity in our primary phase. This will be beneficial as Mrs Thakore, Miss Bigginton and I continue to work over both Avanti Fields and Krishna Avanti. Ms Kholia, Mrs Patel, Mr Giga and Mr Khabra will remain working within their leadership roles on the secondary side of Avanti Fields. And we will remain supported by Mrs Nair as our Leicester hub Area BSM.

Primary News
What a wonderful first week back it has been. Please see below the highlight of the week:
Pre-school: This week pre-school have enjoyed learning about bonfire night and remembrance day. We have created lots of fireworks in different ways and made our own poppies to remember the soldiers.
Reception: Reception have been exploring seasonal changes. When we went on a walk in Autumn 1, the trees were green. In Autumn 2, we’ve noticed that the leaves are changing to yellow and brown. What seasonal changes have you noticed in our environment?
Year 1: This week Year One had an amazing experience learning aboriginal art. We have been learning how to use different marks to create a picture such as changing brush strokes and patterns.
Year 2: This week digital artists have been inspired by Mondrian and Seurat! We have used Ipads to create artwork using different techniques and colours, pixel by pixel, square by square!
Stars of the week
All pupils who were a star of the week joined the ‘top table’ for lunch. A huge well done to: ……..
Acorn: Kesavan T for trying really hard to write the ‘e’ sound, he was determined to correct his letter formation by doing extra writing on a whiteboard. Well done for showing resilience in your learning!
Walnut: Siana M She has been super kind to her friends and tried her best in her writing and counting. Well done Siana !
Buttercup: Aarna D for trying so hard to access provision and for creating an incredible homework project for our topic of the Three Little Pigs. We are so proud of you Aarna
Daisy: Aarav K for showing empathy to a new member in our class. You have been a great buddy to him by looking after him and ensuring he feels a part of the class. Well done and thank you!
Bluebell: Hrithik R for working very hard in Maths.
Snowdrop: Kriti S for showing enthusiasm and trying hard with her singing practise!
Daffodil: Saksham A for his excellent villain project and story! Well Done Saksham!

Anti-bullying week
Next week all children will be learning about positive relationships, what it means to be different, what is bullying and what to do if you or someone you know was being bullied.
As part of this, we are asking all pupils to come to school wearing odd socks on the 12th November to help raise the awareness of anti-bullying and to celebrate our differences.
RRSA Article of the Week
Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.
Week 1: Remembrance Day
Article’s you could explore which link to this topic: 38
Article 38 – Governments must not allow children under the age of 15 to take part in war or join the armed forces. Governments must do everything they can to protect and care for children affected by war and armed conflicts.
Remembrance unites people of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds in honouring those who defend our democratic freedom and way of life.
The UK has a long tradition of marking Armistice Day, calling to mind the moment when fighting ceased at the end of the First World War, at 11.00am on the 11th November 1918.
Here is a linked activity you can do at home:
Poppies are used as symbols during Remembrance Day events. Watch this short CBeebies animation and discuss what the film is about. Discuss how the rabbit is feeling during the war. If the rabbit was a child, what rights are affected?

Please remember to state your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.
All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child’s academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.
The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.
This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.
