Avanti Grange is a co-educational, non-faith secondary school for children aged between 11 and 18. The school is within the Avanti Schools Trust, which opened in 2012. Avanti Grange is highly oversubscribed in all year groups. Once fully open, Avanti Grange will have over 1200 students, including 300 in our academic Sixth Form which will predominantly focus on A levels. The majority of students that attend the school come for Bishop’s Stortford and the surrounding villages.
The school has an exceptionally strong pastoral system which prioritises impeccable behaviour for learning and student wellbeing. Student wellbeing is supported in several ways including timetabled yoga and meditation lessons as well as the opportunity for residential retreats. The school also has a thriving House System in which the students and staff take great pride.
Avanti Grange is a fully vegetarian school, the lunch offer is seen as integral to the community experience so there is no provision for pupils to bring packed lunches under any circumstance. This arrangement is made very clear to parents and students at the school’s open evening and throughout all literature.
The school champions technology in the teaching and learning programme with all students using their own device to access the curriculum in a high percentage of lessons.
At Avanti Grange Secondary School we promote a values-based approach to education. We encourage students to value self, others and the environment and empower them to be effective learners as well as excellent and responsible global citizens. The school offers a broad, balance and extensive curriculum which is knowledge rich and challenging, as well as a wide range of co-curricular opportunities.
We are determined to achieve the Trust’s mission statement by focusing on 3 key area, these are:
