It was great to see all of the children dressed in their Christmas Jumpers today, raising money for Save the Children. Thank you for all of your support and I hope the various Christmas events have helped bring some normality and cheer to these difficult times.

For those of you isolating in the lead up to Christmas, whether it is your first time or second, my thoughts are with you as I know it’s not easy to go about your daily tasks/job whilst ensuring your child is learning remotely at home. I really do hope that what we’re offering helps and if you are finding it difficult in any way, please do let us know using the remote help contact form – if we can help, we will.

Parent Questionnaire Updates

Thank you to all that have so far completed the Parent Questionnaire  and the external 360 Reviews.

Updates on feedback and questions…

    • To know in advance of the learning for the year: Learning for the year is available on the website in your child’s year group page, for English and mathematics. Check the tab ‘Target Statements’. These are that year groups objectives from the National Curriculum. We will soon be adding simple videos and text on each topic as the class begins them.
    • Consideration to improving the grounds of the school i.e. tarmac car parking area, reduced flooding by improved draining: The car park has been repaired now. We have plans in place to fix the flooding. We have already had some drain exploratory work done but works delayed due to covid and availability of materials. We are trying to plan this work alongside widening the path which is too narrow and uneven.

Christingle Service

The Christingle service with St Deny’s Church was a successful event. For anyone that missed it, you can watch it on the school’s YouTube channel .

Christmas Parties and Lunch

This year, being sensible with Covid, our Christmas parties will be a class event and for all classes, taking place on Thursday 17th December. Children may come to school on Thursday in sensible party clothes for the day. Food and games will take place in classrooms, with the party food provided by Govindas.

A reminder that Christmas lunch will be on the last day, Friday 18th December. The menu for all will be a choice on the day from…

  • Cheesy Vegetable Pie with Sausage & Gravy
  • Pizza Rolls
  • Tomato and Olive Bread
  • Christmas crackers (to pull, not eat)
  • Jacket Potato with Cheese and Sweetcorn
  • Salad
  • Caramel Slice

Again, children may come dressed in something Christmasy. There will be no after school clubs on the last day with school closing at 13:00.

School Clubs

The new club timetable will go live early next week. Please check towards the end of school on Monday.

Christmas Carols

The dates for children to replace their school jumper for a Christmas jumper and sing a carol around the tree is on the website calendar. It will be recorded and we have agreed to allow St. Deny’s Church use of the recordings for their service on the 22nd December. If you do not wish your child to be seen on the recording, please let us know in advance.

Focus on…

The 16th week of the Focus on… series is complete and a huge ‘Well done’’ to all 107 players. View the final podium by clicking here.

Podcast

The school’s latest podcast has been published and is available – Click here to listen to it.

And Finally…

Remember, the year and class name needs to be written on the Christmas cards posted otherwise the School Council will not know where to take them. We have a lot of Christmas cards that probably won’t get to the child intended.

Thank you for your continued support.
