A full week at school has now been completed, during which time I hope that we have all overcome any glitches with all of these new remote ways of working. I will continue to work together to help as much as we can. We are all learning at the moment which is a good lesson in life; to appreciate there is always more to learn.

Remote Learning Support and Critical Worker Bookings

Next week we have an increase in numbers booked in as children of critical workers. Up to now we have not asked for evidence showing that you are a critical worker but we will start to ask this to ensure we are providing for the people that we are supposed to be providing for whilst keeping the numbers in groups to a minimum. Please do not be offended if you are asked and please do not be deterred from sending your child if you are a critical worker and need your child to attend.

As always, the form for remote learning support and booking form for Critical Worker children is on our school website. If you are having any difficulties with any aspect of home learning, do reach out. If we can help we will and if we can’t, we will try to find someone who can. The following link will take you there: Remote Learning Support

A reminder to any parent whose children are attending, remember to complete the lunch booking form by midday on a Friday. It is too late now for next week but for the weeks going forward it will ensure your child gets their preferred option.

A final reminder regarding food, dinner takeaways for any family can be booked by clicking the following link: Dinner Takeaway Booking

Parent Questionnaire Updates

Our Parent Questionnaire  is still available. So far we have had 80 submissions. If you haven’t completed it, please do. We also have the external 360 Reviews which allow you to focus on specific areas. I hope this is useful.

Updates on feedback and questions…

    • Consideration to improving the grounds of the school i.e. tarmac car parking area, reduced flooding by improved draining: The path widening is now complete, apart from some minor tidying.
    • The way the school has introduced online learning and given chrome books to those who need it is much appreciated. Thank you to all the teachers for all your hard work during this difficult time: It is a very difficult time for so many. We are very pleased to help and will continue to do our very best for you and your children.

Parents’ Evening

This term is parents evening is coming up on the Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th of January. We will run it again via Zoom with a link being shared next week. If you have not already booked, please do so by clicking here. We appreciate it will be quite different with the majority of work having been completed at home; but the opportunity to discuss how your child is getting on, I am sure will be appreciated.

Remote Learning

All of the school chrome books have now been loaned out (or just waiting to be picked up). Please do let us know if you are having any difficulties with remote learning. Whilst we do not currently have any more chrome books to loan out, we are working on other devices and will let you know when they become available.

We will continue to explore little tips and tricks. Starting next Friday afternoon, we will be setting challenges for the children to learn something new. We will then ask the children to share what they have learnt, to benefit all others. For example, when in a Google Meet, a ‘Jamboard’ can be opened and used like a whiteboard.

To start a Jamboard:

  1. Start a meeting in Google Meet.
  2. Click the menu (orange arrow)
  3. Click the Whiteboard (purple arrow).    Enjoy exploring.

The Krishna Avanti Podcast and Focus on…

Apologies as the podcast this week has not been made. I’m sure you’ll appreciate the current difficulties requiring our attention to be elsewhere. We hope to have the podcast back next week. The Focus on… quiz will go out to all by the end of the weekend, via Twitter and on Google Classroom.

Take care and stay safe.
