We are now at the end of the week and I sincerely hope the end of the last ever lockdown. We are very excited to be able to welcome the children back on Monday. Everything is in place for the children’s return, with the distancing measures continuing – we must be cautious so that classes of children do not need to isolate and we get through the rest of the year with the children at school every day.

We appreciate that for many it may be an anxious time. I’d like to reassure you all we are very aware of this and a lot of the work we do, will be done so with the children’s well-being in mind. Most children are more resilient than many think and will seamlessly return to school with no issues; there may be some that need that little bit more care and attention.

Remote Learning Support

Even though we have all children returning, we will be continuing to use Google classroom in various ways. I will soon be inviting you to discuss how homework works. From previous comments on questionnaires and all that we have learnt during these various lockdowns, there are many positive ways that we can improve and develop the learning opportunities for the children. For that reason the remote learning support form will remain on our website so please use it as you need to. Click here for any remote learning support.

Tech Challenge

This week’s Tech Challenge is all about QR codes.  For those that know, QR codes are really useful and can be used in many ways. Find out what QR codes are, how they are used and have a go at creating your own QR code link! You could create a QR code that takes you to:

    • A picture of your favourite reading book.
    • A picture/video of what a healthy meal looks like.
    • A recording of you reading a book/doing yoga/fitness challenge.
    • A discussion of what your favourite thing about home learning has been.

Chrome Book Returns

With all children returning back to school, the chrome books that have been loaned out need to be returned next week. When they are returned we will need to check they are in good working order. This will involve starting the device and logging on, ensuring there is no damage. If there has been an accident the charge will need to be paid by Easter.

So that we don’t have 75 chrome books all returned at the same time we are asking for the returns to take place in the morning, as follows:

    • Foundation Stage and Year 1 – Return on Monday 8th March
    • Year 2 and Year 3 – Return on Tuesday 9th March
    • Year 4 and Year 5 – Return on Wednesday 10th March
    • Year 6 – Return on Thursday 11th March

For the returns, staff will be outside the main entrance for the check and handover. Once your child is walked into school you can continue a few metres where administrative staff will be waiting for you. Please make sure it is you handing in the device on the day detailed above. If you have more than one device, they should all be handed in at the same time on the earliest date.

School Finishing Times

Yesterday’s letter explained the procedures for the end of the day. Next week Foundation Two children, along with the Year One and Year Two children need to be picked up at 14:15. We will be monitoring how long it takes for these children to be picked up and the site clear ready for the key stage two children to go home. The quicker that happens, the later we can move that time to get as close to the 14:45 finish for the Key Stage Two children. If parents arrive late or take their time leaving the site, the gap between the two times will need to remain longer. Please do try to be as efficient as possible whilst maintaining safe distances.

A reminder for those parents with children in both the lower school and Key Stage Two, your younger child will stay in school until 14:45 when they will leave with their sibling. Please note that this is strictly siblings. We are unable to change this for those that are picking up other children.

Extra-Curricular Activities

A reminder that the after-school clubs do start on Monday. If it is a class club, a place is guaranteed and you will not need any confirmation. By the end of today, requests for other clubs should be received via email. Regardless of your Childs end of school day time, all clubs finish at 15:30.

World Book Day

It was wonderful to see so many children enjoying world book day yesterday. Not only did the children at school come dressed up as various characters, so many children at home engaged which I think is really impressive. Keep enjoying the books and we look forward to sharing some exciting news about the library at school very soon.

Well done to everybody that took part in the world book day quiz and a special congratulations to Advaita for getting first place in the World Book Day quiz.
