The end of another week and another half-term. I am genuinely grateful for the positive relationships and the manner in which we move forward together. Yesterday as I moved about school I was sincerely moved at the positive behaviour of the children; the excellent work in classes; and the debate and discussion between children discussing the school. As parents, you should be very proud – I certainly am.

Restorative Practice – Building Relationships, Improving Behaviour and Creating Stronger Communities

At school we always listen to the children, you as parents and each other as colleagues. If we ever fail to do that we have made a mistake. Restorative Practice is a way of being, not a process. Every person is greatly valued and their point on their journey is unique. When we talk to each other and connect, we should always do so remembering we do not know everything. Our own personal circumstances will affect our behaviours – these are not to be used as excuses to do less or underachieve,  but we must be conscious that sometimes, we just don’t know! Let us always have respect for each other and be positive towards each other. I was told that some parents had been abusive and swearing over a parking spot in Davenport Road. Let us all be nice and smile – it may just help someone.

Bubbles

We continue to continually check our procedures and processes to limit any risk of Covid transmission. Thank you all for continuing to work with us by following the one-way system, distancing and masks. After half-term we will, in moderation and where children are outside be allowing children from the same year group to mix. This in the main will be for break times (including lunch). It will be lovely for friends in different classes to be able to play together, although we will be sensitively discouraging them from big hugs and jumping on each other!

Parking Permits

The new barrier is now in operation. As with any developments, we learn and adapt. We still want pedestrians to enter via the Spencefield pedestrian gate on the side of Krishna Avanti Primary School and leave via St. Paul’s. A trial of entering on the St. Paul’s side forced a two-way system, which we do not want – please do however cross with care.

From early observations the one single action that really slows down the entry and exit operations is the number of cars entering the site in both the morning and afternoon. We will be issuing fobs to those with genuine needs to speed up the process.

Those parents that have a parking permit will now need to get a fob that will permit access to the bays – this includes any Blue Badge holders. We will be carefully monitoring Blue Badge Holders because it has come to our attention that some Blue Badge holders are not actually in the car. If you currently have a valid pass or are a Blue Badge Holder requesting access, contact the office and make arrangements to collect a fob.

Fobs will only be given after a £30 deposit is made (via Arbor), refundable upon return of the fob when it expires. By having a fob you will not need to ‘buzz’ – this should keep the access/exit point clear.

It is important to note that no car has any right of access and this includes Blue Badge holders – it is private land. Should any fob holder abuse the privilege then the fob will be automatically deactivated and a refund only given when returned, undamaged.  We will automatically activate fobs for specific days and times, as individually agreed.

For those picking up children from after-school clubs, the barrier will automatically rise at 15:25, allowing access from 15:30. Please do not arrive nor ‘buzz’ before 15:25. If you arrive and the barrier is down, you are too early. I trust that you will work positively with us as we all get this right.

Calendar Dates

We have been seriously considering this year’s Sports Days with the hope that they can run and with parents in attendance. First of all, I am very pleased to write we will run the days as before – children can maintain the bubbles and considering how positively Holi ran with parents distancing, we are confident we can do the same for the fun Sports Days. We will run them as year groups which we will be treating as bubbles after half-term, where it works to do so.

We will be checking over other events in the calendar and they will be accurate according to the website by tomorrow.

All dates are on the website calendar which you can see by clicking here.

Avanti Fields School

As many of you will be aware, Avanti Fields School is due to move to the new permanent site in the Hamilton area in August. To help with the work that this involves I have been asked to help, on a temporary basis, starting straight after half term. This will require my attention on a full-time basis although I will still be in communication with all here at Krishna Avanti and here Friday afternoons. Mr Linnett will lead the school in my absence and I know you will support him and the team during this temporary arrangement.

Thank you very much for your continued support, have a super half-term break and stay safe.
