Weekly Update
It has been wonderful to be back at Krishna Avanti Primary School this week and I am really looking forward to focusing purely on what we do here for your children. The past four months at Avanti Fields School has been a great insight into the workings of secondary provision and has been of great benefit to be able to establish some strong links with so many positive staff. I look forward to the weeks ahead and seeing you all each morning, after school and at various upcoming events.
A huge thank you must be said to Mr Linnett for stepping up to Acting Principal. To take on the role for what has been four months is quite a different task; many Principals/Headteachers in post comment about how different the role is to what people expect. A sincere expression of gratitude must go to Mr Linnett who now reverts to his role as Deputy Principal.
Mrs Chauhan also has done a great job and will remain as Acting Deputy (meaning we have two) up to Christmas. It is always great when opportunities arise for people and Mrs Chauhan has embraced the role with positivity.

Building Relationships, Improving Behaviour and Creating Stronger Communities
During the staff training day today we had a 90 minutes session with Mark Finnis, the author of the book. Staff from schools right across the Avanti Schools Trust were able to connect and engage with Mark. It was a great session and one that made me personally reflect emotionally. Your children (our children) are truly fantastic and the relationships that we have with them is special. If you have not read Mark’s book, I would strongly recommend it. For me it is not just about how we engage with children at school; it is also about our relationships as adults.
Humans come first. Names are more important than labels and titles. Lip service is the enemy – be authentic.
The language we use creates the reality we experience.

You Said, We Did…
For those that are not new to the school this year, you will know that we open a Parent Questionnaire after the October Half-Term. This allow those new to the school, usually those with children in their first year of school in Foundation Two. The button below will take you to the page on the website where you can complete the questionnaire. Please do take time to do this as we use the responses to keep doing the things we do well; look at how to do things even better; and overall, ensure we work together as partners for your children.
In future weeks we will respond to any comments made.
Remembrance Day
This Thursday we observed two minutes silence to remember those who sadly lost their lives in conflict all around the world.
Anti-Bullying Week
Next week is anti-bullying week and there will be various activities and discussions on this year’s theme of ‘one kind word’ for all children. Throughout the week we will engage in a range of activities to support this year’s theme. On Monday we are inviting everybody to wear odd socks!
Year 6 Warning Zone
Year 6 attended Warning Zone on Wednesday; a Leicester based charity dedicated to teaching life-skills and safeguarding children. The exciting and interactive tour of every-day scenarios and situations, taught the children how to stay safe and make the right decisions. The E-Safety Zone taught the children about staying safe when using the internet. Whether playing online games, sharing photos or using social media, there mentioned the risks facing children online.
Children in Need
Our Young Leaders are planning activities for Children in Need on Friday the 19th of November. Everybody is invited to Dress Up in something spotty or in PJ’s and contribute.
Some of the activities will include:
- Skipping challenge (breaktime)

- Mindfulness colouring competition for EYFS, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
- Silence the teacher UKS2 (10p change is needed for this)
- Kahoot quiz for all classes
