Access the Add a New Post screen via Posts > Add New
Add title and content text
Scroll down to locate Categories in right column … create new categories as required … select at least one category
Scroll down further an click link for featured image to open Featured Image dialogue, select from existing or upload new image
Click the blue ‘Set featured image’ button to return to the base page … scroll back up and click the blue publish button
