Royal Academy of Young Artists’ Summer Show
Miss Robinson, our Class 4 teacher encouraged young artists to take part in the Royal Academy’s Young Artists’ Summer competition this year. There were amazing pieces entered from all years from Reception up to Year 8, including paintings, sketches and sculptures. Miss Robinson was absolutely bowled over when two of these pieces were selected by judges to be displayed in London at the prestigious Royal Academy’s Young Artists’ Summer Exhibition, with all three winners selected by judges to be shown on the on-line exhibition as well. The three pieces included two winning entries from Reception and one from Year 5. The two Reception pieces were nature and [...]
Years 3-6 Sorts Day- Thursday 29th June, 2023
What a fantastic day Sports Day was! This year, Key Stage 2&3 came together on the park for a day of sport and fun! Years 3&4 enjoyed competing in the obstacle race, a sprint (50m), distance run and vortex throw. Year 5&6, a sprint, a distance run of approximately 300m, a vortex throw and a standing jump. There were some fantastic Athletes both on track and field and everyone gave their all! The community spirit was clear to hear and children cheered on their peers alike. The parents race was popular in both sports sessions and staff even sported some dads limbering up 2 hours before their race! The highlight was the “tug of war” between staff [...]
Year 7 & 8 Sports Day
We had a brilliant Sports Day with Year 7&8. Students had opted into a sprint, longer distance run, a throw or a jump as well as a single sex or mixed relay team in their houses. What stood out to me was the excellent level of competitiveness and the support they gave to each other. We had some brilliant results with outstanding efforts from Gaius and Millie in Year 8 and Kayden and Sarina in Year 7. The relay races were really exciting and you could see the sheer determination and desire to win these particular races. We all enjoyed watching parents and carers race too. Lots of memories to take from the day! Thank [...]
EYFS/Key Stage 1 Sports Afternoon
On Monday 26th June, parents/carers joined staff and children on site at Avanti Park for their sports afternoon. The children rotated around a number of sporting activities, competing for their house and had lots of fun! They particularly enjoyed the Pirate Ship challenge (run annually by Pirate Yates!), the egg and spoon race and the obstacle race. They worked brilliantly as a team and parents and carers enjoyed following their offspring around and cheering them on! Well done all! Mrs Watts
New Scooter Racks
A new scooter rack has arrived at Avanti Park! Pictured are Ian Williams and Leon Russell from the Frome Men’s Shed with their bespoke design, hand made by the team of volunteer ‘Shedders’. Also pictured is Mark Scopes from the Frome Town Council Rangers team who delivered the scooter rack. The scooter rack was paid for by Frome Town Council to support Avanti Park School’s commitment to encouraging active travel to school. Scooting to school at Avanti Park has proved so popular that the Men’s Shed are busy building a second scooter rack for Avanti, watch this space!
A Privet Hawk Moth visits the School
Some pupils from Year 5 found a Privet Hawk Moth on the wall of the Yoga Studio today. It was 6 cm long and we decided that we needed to move the rather massive moth somewhere safe! The boys then went and found out about the moth and this is their blog - written by Dante and Jacob Hewins. The female Hawk Moth is much bigger than the male and can have a wingspan of up to 10 cm. They prefer to live in the South of the UK than in the North and the adult moths live for 30 days as an adult. They have and pink and black stripes under their wings and they [...]
Katrina Hart visits Avanti Park
We had a really inspirational visit from Paralympian Katrina Hart this week. She visited Avanti Park to share her amazing life story and her journey to being able to compete at the highest level possible. The children enjoyed a very active session to music around a circuit of activities followed by an assembly where they found out more about Katrina's life and were given an opportunity to ask questions. We would like to thank Katrina and her sports partner Tom for giving our children such a positive and memorable experience! For more information about Katrina and Sports for Schools, please visit Katrina Hart - Sports for Schools

Avanti Park Achieve 100% in Career Benchmarks
We are delighted to announce that Avanti Park School has gained 100% on all of the Gatsby Benchmarks. This is the framework for schools to fulfil in order to deliver a high quality careers programme to all pupils. The current statutory requirement is for only secondary schools to work towards these benchmarks. However, we are one of the only local schools that delivers a career programme across both primary and secondary, from reception upwards. This helps to ensure that younger pupils are able to learn about a wide and diverse range of careers and pathways, and to have career stereotypes challenged early on. So far this academic year, there have been 21 different careers activities delivered [...]
