The Avanti House U13 cricket team showed once more that they are a formidable team in this competition, easily defeating their opponents, Nower Hill on a glorious afternoon fit for cricket. The Avanti House team won the toss and sent Nower Hill in to bat. It was tough going for the opposing Nower Hill as they found it difficult to put away what was nothing short of precision pace- bowling from the likes of Taran and Chaand and the deceptive and wizardly spin of Shayna and Akshar. Shayna was once more the creator of many a trouble for the batsmen and earned two quick scalps after a flying start from the Nower Hill team. It so happened that once again, she earned two wickets in 2 overs. With the help of Chaand and Taran producing some accurate pace bowling the survival of the opposition was short-lived. Nower Hill managed a mere 56 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 16 overs.
With 16 overs on the table, Avanti decided we were going to keep to our mantra; ‘Keep the score board ticking over’ and that we did. In quick fashion, and with the loss of only one wicket, Avanti raced to the required runs in only 8 overs. Thanks to Akshar and Ekansh, they held their composure and gave every ball its due merit. Another victory in the bag but we are humble and poised for the next challenge. John Lyons, here we come!
