KS4

As part of the AQA 8035 Geography GCSE course Units 2 (Urban Regeneration) and Unit 3 (Fieldwork), the students are required to undertake 2 pieces of fieldwork, which they will be examined on at the end of the course.

Wednesday 4th December 2019 (Mr Driscoll’s classes)

Wednesday 11th December 2019 (Ms Patel & Dr Smith’s classes)

The pupils participated in various outdoor data collection activities, related to Urban Regeneration. The content is relevant to 2 of next summer’s 3 geography exams. All students have been shown how to download the free latitude/longitude app https:// play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mylocation.latitudelongitude&gl=GB to enable them to display findings on an ArcGIS map upon return to school. Extension tasks provided in the pupil booklet will allow some an insight into data collection at A Level standard.

After lunch pupils partook in a Unit 3 masterclass to help relate their findings to Unit 2 & Unit 3 examination questions. Here is a pupil account of the 1st visit;

“… We went to Wembley Park by tube. We visited the London Designer Outlet and spoke to people living in the area, asking them questions about their views on the regeneration of the Wembley area. We received mixed feedback, although most people seemed happy with the changes, saying it was a wonderful place…”. “…We found out what has changed since the regeneration had started. We witnessed lots of current ongoing construction as part of the regeneration…”.

All students have access to electronic revision resources (online text book, practice questions, mark schemes) over the holidays – full details on showmyhomework website
