The current year 7 and 8 cricket teams have just booked the first sports tour hosted by Avanti House.  The touring side will go to Sri Lanka for 10 days in Easter 2018 travelling around the island to play other sides. They will play four fixtures against local sides representing a collaborative under 14 side. This is an amazing opportunity to play fixtures against well-established sides as well as develop teamwork and leadership skills.

During their stay in Sri Lanka they will also visit the temple of the tooth relic, as well as an elephant orphanage where they will see first-hand amazing work to develop and preserve elephants in their natural habitat. Mr Hannon and Mr Button will be attending the tour who believe it will provide a great stepping stone to the cricket season which will start immediately upon their return. Having 10 days practicing together before the start of the season should see the cricket team achieve great things as they will be entered into local and national competitions.

15 students will be attending the tour from this year 7 and 8, they have shown already this year a clear understanding of rules, techniques and a good range of abilities which Mr Hannon and Mr Button hope to develop to produce a well-rounded side to represent the values each student has shown a comprehensive attitude to their own personal development, both personal ability as well as teamwork, self-discipline and leadership.

Over the next few months there will be a number of fund-raising events to raise money for a touring kit where the students can fully represent the school, creating an internationally recognised sporting prowess.
