The 2021 cohort of Year 13 students at Avanti House School, Harrow, have come through the challenges of multiple lockdowns, remote learning and the impact of the pandemic on themselves and their families to record some truly astonishing exam results. These students have opened doors to some of the best universities in the country and have excelled well beyond the achievements of the national average and other state schools in particular.
“This cohort truly embodied ‘The Avanti Way’, showing resilience to stay focused on their studies and empathy to support each other through the challenges of the pandemic.” – Mr Remi Moynihan, Head of 6th Form. The students of Avanti House achieved 49% A*-A grades which is above the national average of 44.3%, and achieved 10% higher than the average for comprehensive schools which was 39%. Avanti House pupils achieved 85% A* C grades.
There were some staggering results from individual pupils with one pupil receiving 6 A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, English Literature, Art & Design, and Hinduism. Another pupil achieved 5 A* grades, 2 pupils achieved 4 A* grades and 10 pupils achieved 10 A* grades.
“As principal I am so proud of the achievements of all students in Year 13 at Avanti House Secondary School. They have gained the A level and BTEC grades that they richly deserve, as they have continually displayed our values, principles and ethos and met all of the challenges that the last two years have presented. I would also like to thank the work and determination of all of the staff at Avanti House for their hard work and support of the students both academically and pastorally. It has not just been the support within school but the wider Avanti community and family that have ensured that no student has been left behind in their studies, therefore I would like to thank the parents and carers of our students who have continually supported the school. The destinations, careers and the future of all of our students looks bright and I know that they will make the world a better place.” – Mr Simon Arnell, Principal.
Students from this year’s A-Level cohort look forward to continuing their studies at Cambridge, Oxford, Warwick, LSE, UCL, Imperial College, Queen Mary’s, Kings College London, Manchester, Nottingham, St Andrews, Bristol, Southampton and several other universities.
