Congratulations to Avanti Grange School in Bishops Stortford that has achieved “Outstanding” judgements from Ofsted in all areas following its first inspection.

The school was given the rating following the inspection on 7th May 2025

“This incredible outcome is a direct reflection of the commitment, passion, and dedication of our staff and our students, as well as the unwavering support of the Avanti Schools Trust,” said Principal Rhys Jones.

“An Outstanding Ofsted inspection is not the end of the journey, it was never the destination. Rather, it marks a significant milestone on our path to creating one of the very best schools in the country, and this recognition tells us we are well on our way. At Avanti Grange, we are building something special that continues to have a profoundly positive impact on our students, staff, and wider community.”

Inspectors found … “pupils behave impeccably and have excellent attitudes to learning. Staff teach pupils the importance of studying hard. Pupils benefit from engaging learning opportunities which spark their interests.”
They added: “This school is an exceptionally positive community. Pupils value each other, staff and the high-quality education they receive. Pupils live the ‘Avanti way’ by being compassionate, articulate and respectful ‘changemakers’. They learn these characteristics effectively through the school’s rich, ambitious curriculum. As one pupil noted, reflecting the view of many, ‘The school makes you the best person you could want to be.’”

Dr James Biddulph MBE Incoming CEO Avanti Schools Trust said: “I am delighted that Avanti has achieved its first Outstanding judgement. This is down to the commitment of our educators, teachers and support teams, great administrators and site teams, empowered by deeply inspired leaders. Success doesn’t happen in isolation and the thanks owed stretches to our Trustees, SSC members, central colleagues. Most importantly, the success is for our young people who step up to the high standards expected of them. Congratulations Rhys and your whole team.”

Avanti Grange School is part of the Avanti Schools Trust. It currently has 469 pupils in Years 7 to 9, and youngsters are getting ready to begin their GCSE studies.
