School Lunch

School meals are prepared and cooked on site by the catering providers, Govindas. Please click here to see Govinda’s website for further information.

An important part of our ethos is around the provision of hot, fresh, nutritious meals. Sharing tasty, healthy school lunches is an integral part of the educational experience at an Avanti school. It’s also an opportunity to enhance social skills and table etiquette, ensuring lunchtimes are a positive experience for all. School staff often enjoy taking lunch with pupils, creating a family atmosphere.

The lunch meals cooked on-site are vegetarian (in line with the faith ethos of the school) and half-termly menus are also available on the School’s website.

If the lunch provision on offer does not meet your child’s needs, or if your child has specific diet requirements/preferences, please do speak to us so that we can provide for your child accordingly. We encourage parents to visit the school to sample the school lunches in order to satisfy themselves with the quality of provision.

Meals can be designed to meet the needs of children with specific allergies.

We strongly encourage parents who have financial constraints to apply for Free School Meals via the online LGFL link below. Updates received to the school will be kept confidential.

Free School Meals :
Did you know that every child who is known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) allows their school to gain extra funding through Pupil Premium Grant to ensure that they achieve the highest standards and do not fall behind. This funding is used to improve staffing and facilities that benefit the children. To find out if you qualify for the Pupil Premium Grant, use the Free School Meals eligibility checker by visiting http://fsm.lgfl.net . Once you have accessed the website, you will be able to quickly and easily check if you are entitled. It gives you an immediate “yes” or “no” response and may notify the school. If you are eligible for FSM please inform the school office by email.

You will be aware that school meals for all children aged 7 and under are funded by the state and are free to parents. Please continue to pay for children in Key Stage 2 classes unless the children qualify for a free school meal.

We only accept electronic payments for school meals. This easy and simple process is facilitated by Parent Pay. ParentPay offers you the freedom to make payments whenever and wherever you like, safe in the knowledge that the technology used provides the highest internet security available. You will have a secure online account, with a unique user ID and password. You can change these to something you will easily remember and merge accounts of two or more children.

Dinner money is £3.30 a day (subject to change) per child. Payments can be made per half term, term or full year in advance.
