PARENT PHONICS WORKSHOP – A reminder that Miss Parmar and Mr Burns will be running a phonics workshop for parents on Tuesday 12th November 8:008:45am in the hall.  

This week in phonics lessons we will revise sounds i, n, m, d, g and teach new sounds o, c, k, ckWe will also teach the HFW (high frequency word) and. Please support your child with their phonics learning by reading on Bug Club and doing simple writing tasks at home (writing CVC words using phonics sounds, e.g. dogcat, kick, sock, etc.). 

In literacy and topic lessons we will focus on birthdays and explore how different people, families and cultures celebrate. We will read and discuss the story Happy Birthday Winnie. We will also discuss and explore Buddhism and link this with how Buddha’s birthday is celebrated in the Buddhist culture. 

In maths lessons we will focus on number; counting forwards and backwards, matching number to quantity and finding 1 more and 1 less. 

Please use these areas of focus to guide your home learning activities with children. PLEASE UPLOAD EVIDENCE OF HOME LEARNING ON EExAT; AIM FOR 1 OR 2 PIECES OF EVIDENCE EACH WEEK.  

We would very much appreciate if you could begin adding codes to each piece of uploaded evidence:  

CI = child initiated (work that children do without being asked)  

AD = adult directed (work that you have asked your child to complete)  

I = independent (completed by the child without adult intervention)  

WS = with support (completed with adult support).

Week beginning 4/11/19

PARENT PHONICS WORKSHOP – A reminder that Miss Parmar and Mr Burns will be running a phonics workshop for parents on Tuesday 12th November 8:00-8:45am in the hall. We would love to see all our parents in attendance as we are confident this will support you in continuing to work with your children as they develop their reading and writing skills. We will also further explain EExAT and our expectation for parent uploads.

This week in phonics we will revise sounds s, a, t, p, and teach new sounds n, i, m, d, g. We will also teach the HFWs (high frequency word) is/ it/ in/ at. Please support your child with their phonics learning by reading on Bug Club and doing simple writing tasks at home (writing CVC words using phonics sounds, e.g. mat, sit, dig, tap, etc.).

Our Literacy and Topic focus will be based on Sikhism; we will discuss and explore places of worship and celebrations from the Sikh faith. We will try to discuss similarities and differences between Sikhism and Hinduism.

In maths we will focus on ordering by size, using appropriate vocabulary to describe different sizes. Pupils will order a range of objects from small to large, large to small, short to tall, tall to short, etc. At home, try to challenge pupils to order by weight and capacity also.
