Wb 16.3.20 – Gaura Purnima celebration this Thursday.

Our literacy focus will be the story, Dear Zoo. Students will be encouraged to start creating their own animal stories; thinking about characters, setting and events.

In maths we will be recapping positional language and capacity. We will extend children to start using ‘quarter full’ and ‘three quarters full’ terminology.

Topic work will focus on changes in animals from infancy to fully grown. We will recap animal life cycles.

Please support your child to learn their weekly spellings (click spellings tab) and complete their weekly homework (click homework tab), in addition to your usual home learning based on our focus areas as detailed above. Many thanks

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Wb 9.3.20 – Science Week; pupils will be planting in the Sensory Garden, exploring static electricity with our own paper snakes, participating in the Animal Experience on Wednesday, and continuing to engage in exciting exploration and investigation throughout the week. Ask your child to tell you about their learning!

In literacy our focus story will be Rumble in the Jungle. We will be describing animals from the story and the animals brought in during the Animal Experience. We will also be exploring non-fiction texts and creating our own animal books.

Our maths learning will focus on subtraction. We will use varied methods of subtraction; taking away concrete objects, counting backwards on a number line, using drawings to represent amounts then crossing out as we subtract, and counting backwards in our heads. Please try these with your child at home.

In topic we will be finding similarities and differences between animals, focusing on their appearance, habitat and diet.

Thank you to those parents who are regularly reading with their child on Bug Club. Please do let us know if you are having any trouble accessing this great online resource.

Please support your child to learn their weekly spellings (click spellings tab) and complete their weekly homework (click homework tab), in addition to your usual home learning based on our focus areas as detailed above. Many thanks

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Wb 2.3.20 – This Thursday we have our whole school World Book Day celebrations. Pupils can come to school dressed as their favourite animal character (ensure sensible footwear is worn). We will be making sock puppets to use on Thursday; if possible, please send in an unwanted pair of clean socks for children to create their own puppets with.

Please ensure the Animal Experience payment is made via Parent Pay and that permission and medical forms are sent in.

Phonics is now being taught in streamed groups to better support pupil development. Please check your child’s diary for their phonics and spellings colour, then check the spellings tab for their weekly focus sounds and spelling words.

In literacy our focus story will be Giraffes Can’t dance. We will be acting out the story and describing story characters using adjectives.

In maths we will focus on money as we celebrate World Maths Day this Wednesday. We will concentrate on recognising coins and notes, understanding the value of pounds and pence, and adding simple amounts.

In topic we will be focusing on animal habitats and how to maintain and take care of animal and human environments.

Please support pupils to learn spellings (click spellings tab) and complete homework (click homework tab) in addition to your usual home learning based on our weekly focus areas as detailed above.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

WB 24.2.20 – Please pay for the Animal Experience on ParentPay, and send in relevant documents, if you haven’t already done so.

This week in phonics we will be recapping the last few phase 3 sounds: ear, air, ure, er. Please continue to encourage simple sentence writing at home using phonic sounds.

In literacy our focus story will be Monkey Puzzle. We will be discussing the characters and story settings, and making links to our new topic and role play areas.

Maths learning will be focused on halving. We will recap halving objects, halving amounts and halving numbers.

This week we are introducing our new topic, animals. We will explore animal habitats and environments as we create and decorate our new role play areas.

Please support pupils to learn spellings (click spellings tab) and complete homework (click homework tab) in addition to your usual home learning based on our weekly focus areas as detailed above.

PLEASE UPLOAD EVIDENCE OF HOME LEARNING ON EExAT; AIM FOR 1 OR 2 PIECES OF EVIDENCE EACH WEEK.

Please try to upload pictures/videos of children completing tasks; for multiple photos,  try uploading one ‘photo collage’ if possible.

We would very much appreciate if you could add codes to each piece of uploaded evidence:

CI = child initiated (work that children do without being asked)

AD = adult directed (work that you have asked your child to complete)

I = independent (completed by the child without adult intervention)

WS = with support (completed with adult support).

Autumn 1 Parent Information 2020-21

Autumn 2 Parent Information 2020-21

Dear Parent,

How do you fancy challenging friends, family or neighbours to some fun, virtual sporting activities this summer?

At national children’s charity, the Youth Sport Trust, we are determined to ensure that young people stay active and connected through this difficult time. We’ve been helping families do this with our daily #StayHomeStayActive activities since March and now we’re challenging the public to go one step further by joining us in our first ever National School Sport Week at Home, supercharged by Sky Sports.

Taking place from 20-26 June, the week will give families, communities, schools and sports clubs the opportunity to take part in a series of virtual sporting challenges which help young people capture the enjoyment, competition and camaraderie they may be missing out on and the Youth Sport Trust is delighted that Sky Sports will be helping to supercharge the campaign.

How do I find out more?

Registering couldn’t be simpler. Just go to our website www.youthsporttrust.org/nssw and click on the link for parents. You will be asked a couple of questions as you register about who you might challenge and how many people you would like to get involved.

After signing up we will provide you with free and easy-to-use resources to help plan your week of National School Sport Week at Home Activity, set challenges for your families, friends and neighbours, and shout about it online.

So, what are you waiting for? Join the growing number of people who will be running, jumping and throwing their way to glory from 20-26 June.
