The government and KAPS is committed to ensuring all children have the very best chances in life. At KAPS we closely monitor all children to ensure that children achieve the highest standards and do not fall behind. This includes children who may be entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium (PP).
Although children in Year 2 and below are now entitled to universal free school meals, the school would like parents to note that your child may meet the FSM/PP grant criteria; and therefore you may be entitled to government PP funding.
Can your child receive extra support to receive their full potential?
If your child is eligible for ‘free school meals’ and you register them for this, the school will receive extra funding called ‘pupil premium’. The extra money can be used to improve the educational provision and resources for children.
What is pupil premium funding?
The government have provided schools with PP funding to help pupils reach their full potential, regardless of their background or financial situation.
Your child may be eligible able to get FSMs/PP, if you get any of the following benefits:
Universal Credit
Income Support
Income based Job Seekers Allowance
Income based Employment and Support Allowance
Support under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guarantee element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit – (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit). If you are receiving Working Tax Credit your child will not be entitled to free school meals.
If you think your child is entitled to FSM/PP, please complete the form via the link to Harrow Council below. We encourage you to support your child as well as the school by making an application today. All details are confidential.

Please read the guidance in the PP link above. If your child is eligible for free school meals please inform the school office of your eligibility, this will help your child receive their entitlement of additional
support from the school. If your child is found to be eligible this year; parents will still need to reapply on a termly basis so that accurate data is held for your child.
You should contact the school if you have a change in financial circumstances or you are no longer eligible.
Benefit to Krishna Avanti Primary School
The school receives £1,385 additional funding for every eligible student. These funds enable schools to take on additional staff and invest in additional equipment, resources, and activities to the benefit of FSM/PP students. A substantial amount of this funding does not reach schools because not all parents who are eligible apply for FSM for their children.
If your child is found to be eligible for FSM this will allow the school to gain extra funding through the PP grant. The funds received to the school may go towards the following benefits for your child/ren:

- Provide extra adult support for children
- Buy specific resources in order to meet the needs of the child/children
