Krishna Avanti Primary School 6 Highfields Primary School 0

The return to football after the Easter break was a welcome return for Krishna Avanti as they hosted visitors, Highfields Primary on a glorious day for weather. Krishna Avanti loaned Highfields a player for each quarter of the game after Highfields arrived a player short.

Highfields won the toss and for the first known time in grassroots football, the teams switched ends much to the bemusement of the winning captains manager. The game was quite even for the first 7 minutes as loanee, Kush Popat broke up his own team’s attack time and time again (at this level, loan players can play against their own team). It wasn’t until the 8th minute that the deadlock was broken and it was not one, but two goals for Dilan Chauhan in the space of 35 seconds to put the hosts 2-0 up. The goals were well deserved Dilan’s 20th of the season.

Half-time soon came and Krishna Avanti switched positions around so players could experience different positions. The game kicked off and immediately Krishna Avanti attacked and were unfortunate not to get a third. Some fine defending and great goalkeeping by the Highfields players kept Krishna Avanti at bay, but only for just over a minute. Dilan Rana scored great goal onto counter attack after Highfields had threatened to pull a goal back – 3 nil to Krishna Avanti Primary School.

Another three minutes passed during which there were some great tackles, shots and saves at both ends, both Dilan Chauhan grabbed his hat-trick and 21st goal of the campaign and what a screamer! Dilan picked the ball up on the opposition goal-line, swivelled and scored from an angle that many would think impossible. It was now 4-0 to Krishna Avanti Primary School and time for Yogiraj to have the last five minutes out of goal (and Dilan Chauhan to put on the gloves).

The game continued from end to end and Highfields determined attacks were thwarted by the good positioning of Dilan in goal. He was like a little Jordan Pickford, clearing and claiming everything in sight. Yogiraj Dixit was just as determined out of goal and had a couple of chances before he got the much worked for goal in the last minute. Krishna Avanti’s 5th was followed by a 6th less than a minute later when Anay Mistry flew forward and buried the ball low the the opposition keeper’s left. Highfield never stopped and almost grabbed a consolation in the dying seconds but it wasn’t to be. The game ended 6 – 0 to Krishna Avanti Primary School in a positively sporting manner.
