Welcome to the summer term! We hope you had a restful break and are ready for the exciting journey ahead.

The summer term is always a special time in the school year—a term where pupils really grow, build confidence, and refine their knowledge. It’s a joy to see how much progress they make, both academically and personally, during these final weeks.

We have lots of enriching learning experiences and events planned, and we’re excited to continue supporting your child as they finish the year strong.
Please continue to work with us in partnership to help every child thrive—we truly value your support and collaboration.

Here’s to a fantastic term ahead!

 Kindest Regards

 Earth Day Celebration:

We’re thrilled to share that our Earth Day celebration was a great success! The children enjoyed a fun-filled day of meaningful activities, including planting with the help of our wonderful PTFA, litter picking around the school grounds, and creating their very own Earth Day pledges.

It was fantastic to see everyone getting into the spirit of the day, especially with all the creative and thoughtful outfits the children wore. Thank you for your support in helping make this day both educational and enjoyable!

Easter Raffle Draw Winners:

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Easter Raffle Draw was held on Monday 7th April, and there were more than 20 prizes, each containing many items. It was so lovely to see how pleased the winners were with them!

Thank you so much for supporting the raffle, whether it was through buying tickets, donating, helping, or just asking how it was going!

This was the first PTFA Primary event. Please do keep an eye out for any future events you can take part in and enjoy so that we can continue to run more Primary events going forward.

Thank you once again.

Pre-school: This week pre-school enjoyed a food sensory workshop, the children were blind folded and had to guess which fruit/vegetable they were eating. We enjoyed using our senses to guess the food.

Reception: This week Reception enjoyed participating in Earth Day activities. We went on a Litter Pick to clean our environment, and made sure we put all the rubbish in the bin. We also did lots of planting; we planted bulbs, tomatoes, lettuce, beetroot, salad, radish, and many more flowers!

Year 1:This week, Year 1 children celebrated Earth day. They learnt about how to take care of their environment and made pledges about what small changes they are going to make to help the Earth. We linked what we learnt to Article 24; we have a right to access adequate health, food, water, education and a clean environment. The children also walked to their forest school and discussed how they will help to water the plants and make sure that the forest looks neat and clean. Happy Earth Day!

Year 2: Scientists in action! They planted cress seeds and explored how light and water affect growth — all while learning how to carry out a fair test. Who knew science could be this much fun?

All pupils who were a star of the week joined the ‘top table’ for lunch. A huge well done to: ……..

Week 1: Right to Education

Article’s you could explore which link to this topic: 28

Article 28 (Right to Education) – All children across the world have the right to access primary education for free, and secondary education must be available to every child.

This week, we focused on why education is so important for children and young people. We discussed that:

  • It gives you skills to improve things and help people.
  • It helps you form opinions and views about things.
  • You learn things, gain knowledge and pass exams.

Here is a linked activity you can do at home:

Teachers and learners go together! So, now think about what makes a good learner. Imagine you are talking to a younger brother, sister or friend who is about to start school. Describe to them how to be a really good learner. You can invent a cartoon character to represent this good learner.

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles. Please help them learn this Article of the Week, and what this means.

Parent and Carer Webinar Information summer term 24-25

Reminder: This week’s Webinars

Supporting your young person through exam time Tuesday, 29th April 5-6pm.

Parents and carers can register here.

Tests and exams can be a challenging part of school/college life for young people and their parents or carers. Supporting young people through exams is all about reducing stress, optimising wellbeing and putting good study processes in place.

Parents/carers play a vital role in helping their young people maintain a positive outlook in the run-up, during and after exams are over.

This webinar will offer advice to parents and carers around communicating with their young person at exam time, help them to spot the signs of stress and offer strategies to support their young person in managing exam stress in a healthy way.

Emotional based school non-attendance (EBSNA) – practical tips and strategies to support your young person Wednesday 30th April 12-1pm.

Parents and carers can register here.

Feelings of worry and anxiety are something that everyone experiences from time to time. It is not uncommon for young people to worry about school. For some young people, however, that worry can become so significant that they may have difficulties in attending school.

If their young person has high levels of anxiety and is finding it difficult to attend school, they may be experiencing EBSNA.  School non-attendance is a term referring to reduced or non-attendance at school by a young person. Rather than the term ‘school refusal’, the term EBSNA recognises that this avoidance has its root in emotional, mental health or wellbeing issues.

This webinar focuses on young people who have early emerging presentations of EBSNA. It offers advice on how to support their young person, understand the anxiety cycle of avoidance and suggests practical tips and strategies to help their young person overcome their difficulties.

 Pilgrimage yatra to India

Namaste and Hare Krishna dear parents,

☀️We are excited to announce our 3rd annual pilgrimage to India during the Oct half term holidays.☀️

This time, the yatra is going to Mayapur and Jagannatha Puri for 12 nights, during the auspicious month of Kartik!

Mayapur is the birth place of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and is home to the largest Hindu temple in the world – The temple of the Vedic Planetarium! It’s right on the banks of the Holy Ganga river and many wonderful temples. Jagannatha Puri is home to the very ancient deities of Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra Devi, amongst many other sacred places. It is also a famous beach holiday destination.

We will also visit the world renowned Konark Sun temple and one of the 12 main Jyotirlingas, the Bhuvaneśvara’s Lingaraj deity of Lord Shiva!

These trips are catered for families of young and old, with something for everyone. We will be staying in the best accommodation possible in Mayapur and a 4 star hotel, right on the beach in Jagannatha Puri Dham! All meals are freshly prepared, to the highest standards and most dietary requirements can be catered for!

This year, we have a very special offer on for teenagers to come on the trip without their families, incase their families can’t attend.  We want to facilitate their spiritual and illuminating experience in these holy places, during this vulnerable and impressionable time of their life.

Both the yatra trip leaders are DBS checked and have been teaching for the past decade. Teenagers will be able to join the trip for half the normal price!

Checkout the attached poster and this Google form link for more info and to sign up: https://forms.gle/nGR28VKwHqrCZpeaA

You can also email [email protected] for any questions or queries.

Looking forward to this spiritual journey with you and making a lifetime of sacred memories!

Thank you,

Kishori and Birju Jani

Absence

To report an absence to the school, parents should contact us by 8:00am (primary) and 8.30am (secondary)

Email: [email protected]
Phone: 0116 326 6813 (Option 1 to leave a voicemail)

Please remember to state your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.

All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child’s academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.

The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.

This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.
