Principals Update

This afternoon I had the pleasure to attend the Year 11 Leavers Assembly. It was a beautiful assembly reflecting on the journey our pupils have taken. They joined the school while it was still in temporary accommodations, had their learning moved to online during Covid and Dr Sangar joined them as their third head of year. However, despite this winding journey, each and every one of them have grown in character and are ready to take their next steps in education. A particularly moving element of the assembly was when Hanaya K, one of our Year 7 pupils, spoke in front of the cohort to share a poetry piece she had written for their leaving.

SPOKEN WORD POETRY

When we return after the half-term our Year 11 pupils will be on study leave, and our Year 10 pupils will be on work experience! We also are looking forward to our final INSET day on Monday 2nd June to begin planning and preparing for next year with our staff. (Reminder school will be closed to all pupils on Monday 2nd June, unless they have a GCSE examination).

We have an busy summer 2 calendar to look forward to. We will be shortly welcoming our new Reception and Year 7 pupils for their transition days, and also welcoming new staff who will be joining the school from next year. In addition to this we have a range of trips and visits planned, including the Avanti Sings Cluster Concert on Friday 6th June!

Breakfast Club Volunteers

We are reaching out to invite volunteers to join our Breakfast Club at Avanti Fields Primary School and Krishna Avanti Primary School for the upcoming Summer Term and the 2025–26 academic year.

The Breakfast Club runs daily from 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM during term time. We are looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals to help support our primary children and ensure they begin their school day in a positive and welcoming environment.

Breakfast Club volunteers would be asked to support with the setup and pack away of Breakfast club and work with staff to run the club. To accommodate different parent schedules, we would welcome parents who could support at any of the below times:

  • 7:15 AM – 7:45 AM
  • 7:45 AM – 8:15 AM
  • 7:15 AM – 8:15 AM

While we ideally seek volunteers who can commit from Monday to Friday, we are also open to more flexible arrangements to suit your availability.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via this form:

Primary News

As we come to the end of another vibrant and enriching half term at Avanti Fields, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many joyful experiences our pupils have shared. It has been heart-warming to see the resilience, love and care shown by our Preschool children, especially when meeting Alfie, our school dog. Their gentle interactions and excitement highlighted the nurturing environment we are so proud to foster. This half term also saw a fantastic celebration of Earth Day. It was wonderful to see the whole school community come together, with pupils enthusiastically dressing up and taking part in various competitions and activities to show their commitment to protecting our planet. Our Sports Days were also a great highlight, offering pupils the chance to engage in healthy competition, demonstrate resilience and celebrate their personal growth. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who joined us for these events—your support and encouragement mean so much to the children and staff alike. Avanti Fields continues to be a place where growth in all its forms, academic, personal and spiritual, is nurtured each day. As we look ahead to the final half term of the academic year, I am grateful for the continued support of our parent community and look forward to working in close partnership to ensure the very best for every child.

Kindest regards,

Ms. A Thakore

House Point Winners and Attendance Winners

Fire is on Fire! Fire won our house point competition this term, so Miss Savadia treated them to making their own milkshakes. Tulip were our attendance winners this term, and they also enjoyed making some scrumptious milkshakes! The children used lots of different toppings such as chocolate and sprinkles, and they spoke about how they show the core values daily. They also spoke about the importance of WHY we follow our core values. We are so proud of them.

Sports day highlights

What a brilliant time we had at our  Sports Days! The sun wasn’t shining but the energy was high, and the smiles were endless as students, teachers, and even parents came together for a day full of a fun competition.

From sack races to relay runs, our amazing  children gave it their all—cheering each other on, showing great sportsmanship, and most importantly, having a fantastic time. It was wonderful to see every child taking part and enjoying themselves.

A huge highlight of the day was the Parents’ Race—what a show! Thank you to all the mums, dads, and carers who laced up their trainers and joined in the fun.

We have had a wonderful week of sports, including Fencing!

Children had an exciting enrichment day learning the art of fencing! With plenty of enthusiasm, they picked up some impressive new footwork skills and had a brilliant time discovering how to safely handle and play with the plastic swords. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they tried something completely new – lots of smiles, lots of movement, and lots of fun!

Pre-school: This week in Pre-school we have been applying our knowledge of positional language to the outdoors! Our friends moved along the trim trail and we described where they were using ; under, on top of, behind, in front of and next to.

Can you use positional language to describe where objects are in your home?

Reception: we have been practicing our sporty skills! We had so much fun during Sports day and our parents did too! Our favourite was the egg and spoon race, and the parent races of course! Which sport is your favourite?

Year 1: participated in sports day. They all tried their best in multiple races, such as the running race, balancing race and the obstacle race at the end. Even the parents and teachers joined in with the races! Well done Year 1 for having great sportsmanship and cheering on your class!☀️

Year 2: had such fun exploring their artistic skills this week by experimenting with fruits and vegetables in the style of block printing. They were inspired by an artist known as William Morris who is famous for his floral designs and inspired by nature.

Stars of the week

All pupils who were a star of the week joined the ‘top table’ for lunch. A huge well done to: ……..

RRSA Article of the Week

RRSA Articles of the Week

Week 4 – World Day Against Child Labour

Article’s you could explore which link to this topic: 32, 35

Article 32  – Governments must protect children from economic exploitation and work that is dangerous or might harm their health, development or education. Governments must set a minimum age for children to work and ensure that work conditions are safe and appropriate.

This week, we explored World Day Against Child Labour Day. We spoke about how in some countries, have to work to provide for their family, instead of going to school. We spoke about many reasons of why children should be protected from working, especially in dangerous conditions. We said:

  • Their family should have a good enough standard of living without them working.
  • Children should be in education.
  • Their health and safety should be protected.
  • Children’s views and best interests should be considered.

Here is an activity you can do at home:

Draw a large clock on a piece of paper and divide it up into 12 equal segments. In each segment write or draw what you are doing on a normal day. Are you at school, sleeping, playing or watching TV? Now imagine you have to fit a job into your day too. What would you have to stop doing to be able to work?

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles. Please help them learn this Article of the Week, and what this means.

We recently offered 60 students a FREE STEM Day by The Small piece Trust. Students took part in numerous interactive STEM challenges.

Absence

To report an absence to the school, parents should contact us by 8:00am (primary) and 8.30am (secondary)

Email: [email protected]
Phone: 0116 326 6813 (Option 1 to leave a voicemail)

Please remember to state your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.

All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child’s academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.

The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.

This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.
