Krishna Avanti Primary School’s 14th game of the Year 2 League campaign welcomed the visit of Sparkenhoe Primary School to Spencefield Lane. The sun was shining and the pitch was in decent condition, although not quite the standard of the King Power Stadium nor Goodison Park.

Krishna Avanti won the toss and chose to stay as they were and allowing Sparkenhoe to start the game. Some kick short passes saw the visitors attack down the left hand side but the regular goalkeeper for Krishna Avanti soon ended the attack and set the home team on the attack. Keeyan, Tanish and Kush linked up well, putting Kush through for the first real chance of the game. It was the 4th minute and Kush made no mistake, putting the home team one nil ahead. Sparkenhoe were not affected however and fought hard to get the equaliser. There was some super football played with drag-backs, switches and cleaver balls and it paid off for Sparkenhoe in the 7th minute when they were through on goal. Anay was a little rash with his tackling and gave away a penalty for Sparkenhoe to have the chance of an equaliser. The penalty struck the crossbar and bounced out to the Sparkenhoe players who reacted quickest to poke the ball into the net. Sparkenhoe scored to level the game, deservedly.

The score was only level however for just under two minutes after constant pressure in the Sparkenhoe area saw Tanish score his third goal of the season with a ball that was just too far for the keeper to reach. Krishna Avanti were two-one up in a very close match. Dilan Rana entered the field of play in the 10th minute with Tanish making way. The half continued to be a great game of football but neither team could finish their chances. At the break, just one goal separated the two sides.

Dilan Chauhan was keen to go in goal in the second half, allowing Yogiraj  to run free and attack. Tanish replaced Keeyan and the second half kicked off with the same determination as the first. It took seven minutes for another goal despite numerous chances at both ends. It was Sparkenhoe who scored, levelling the game at two a piece with a goal that really should have been cleared. Krishna Avanti got the game back underway and attacked in numbers. The difference came from some Sparkenhoe bad luck after a Kush cross hit a Sparkenhoe defender on the line to trickle in; 3 – 2 to Krishna Avanti. The home team continued to attack. In the 27th minute a Dilan Rana cross from the corner of the pitch went straight in putting Krishna Avanti 4-2 ahead, not really reflecting the game and chances both teams had. Dilan was pleased though with his 23rd goal of the campaign. In the final seconds, Sparkenhoe’s attack was broken down and Krishna Avanti got a 5th goal on the counter-attack through Yogiraj.

It was a great end-to-end game of football, deservedly won by Krishna Avanti but the three goal difference harsh on Sparkenhoe.
