We are now at the end of the third week back at school and the reasonable weather has enabled us to be outside and enjoy the new equipment around the field. The children really have settled back into school well and it is like, very much positively, they have not been away. There is great work in classes and real independence and quality. As staff, we take the opportunity to go on ‘Learning Walks’ where we listen to the discussions, questions and ideas. We look at the quality of work and we see the engagement of children. From the walks over the last few weeks, it is great to see and ‘feel’ the positivity throughout the school.

ISKCON TEMPLE, DELHI COVID-19 URGENT APPEAL

I am sure you will all be very aware of the current situation in India which will be closer to home for many of our community. Together with all in The Avanti Schools Trust, we plan to work with The Lotus Trust to raise funds for a new nursing care facility (180 beds) for which 180 oxygen concentrators have been ordered from China. These will be installed in the facility and the patients will be given oxygen and basic drugs on site, free of cost.

We are currently considering what our school community might do in the next week or so to raise funds for the project. A direct communication will be sent from the Avanti Schools Trust, to parents, about our link to The Lotus Trust in the next few days and I hope that you will support and support whatever you can afford. For more information about the work of The Lotus Trust, visit http://thelotustrust.org/.

Lunch and Payments

We currently have £162.90 owed for lunches, a rise from last week’s £125.10 – please ensure payments are made to avoid the need for children to be picked up for the duration of lunch next week.

Our Young Leaders at school, made up of School Council and Rights Respecting Warriors are being challenged to gather the views of all children with regards lunches. The lunches are very good here at Krishna Avanti Primary School but like everything, we want them to be brilliant and continually improving. I have spent some time in the halls looking at portions, asking children about tastes and generally checking the standard. In the main, as said, they are very good and the children have said so too. However, we want to further improve them and we will. Jacket potatoes will have fillings confirmed so you know. Meals will be served once children are seated to ensure they do not get cold – we had altered the process due to covid.

Thank you as always for the support and sharing ideas.

Last Day for Mrs Surani

Today was Mrs Surani’s last day with her maternity leave now starting. We wish her the very best and look forward to hearing some news when the new member of her family makes an appearance. Mrs Chauhan will be stepping into Year 6 Mayapur for the remainder of the academic year.

Parent Questionnaire Updates

The Parent Questionnaire link is still there, if you have not yet submitted a response, it is still available. So far we have had 107 submissions. If you have not completed it, please do so. We also have the external 360 Reviews, which allows you to focus on specific areas. I hope this is useful. We have now responded to all queries and will shortly add this to the website.

Comment/Query: My daughter is really happy at the school and comes home happy. My daughter has made great progress and I get feedback from her teacher on areas we need to work on and also during this pandemic I have received great support from the teacher and school. I would highly recommend the school to anyone.

Response: Thank you very much for your kind words and support. We want the children to be happy. We want parents to be happy too. Your children’s education is of great importance, as is their personal development and social skills.

The 26th Focus on… Kahoot is complete. Well done to all that made it to the podium. Niya from Year 3 Sun finished on top (and 2nd).
