Principals Update
Yesterday we celebrated the final festival of the year – Ratha Yatra. We had the pleasure of welcoming the CEO Designate, James Biddulph, to our school for the festivities, and he was treated to our special lunch menu and also enjoyed watching the lunchtime garba and taking part in the chariot festival with our Year 7 pupils.
Following our festival day event, we then celebrated our Pre-school graduates. It was a lovely afternoon where the children sang two songs, were presented with their graduation certificates, and provided a final time for parents, teachers and children to come together.
Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, we welcomed our incoming Year 7 pupils to school for their transition day. I had an opportunity to welcome their parents at the end of the day. As part of the welcome, we shared a detailed letter of a few updates to our procedures for next year. I would like to thank Mrs Kurth and Mrs Trivedi for their organisation of the event and ensuring that all of our visiting students had a fantastic experience.
Next week, we will be sending all of our current parents (and our new incoming parents) a letter with information to prepare them for the new year, as well as confirming the key dates for next academic year. Please do take the time to read through it, as it details a number of operational changes, including updates to our behaviour policy.
With only 8 school days remaining, we have it packed with enrichment and reward experiences for all of our leaners. Please do read the calendar updates of the bulletin to see what we have planned.

Summer Reading Challenge – Leicester Libraries
Dear all,
Marvellous Makers is this year’s summer reading challenge with Leicester libraries.
The challenge encourages children to use their local library and maintain their reading habit through the long summer break and aims to mitigate the dip in performance associated with a long break from reading, that many children experience in the new school year.
Starting Saturday 29 June until the 15 September, children aged 0 to 15 years can sign up to take part and complete the six-book challenge. A prize of £100 of books will be awarded to the Leicester school with the highest percentage of children finishing the challenge (numbers recorded by Leicester libraries staff).
In Leicester, we also have a challenge for adults to promote good role modelling. Adults, you can participate by reading six books for a chance to win £30 worth of books!
Leicester libraries’ offer is enhanced with a range of free activities for the whole family, all designed to promote reading for pleasure and the joy of sharing books and stories.
To support schools, there is a short film and assembly presentation to use to encourage your pupils to take part in the challenge.
For further information about our full programme of activities please visit leicester.gov.uk/summerreadingchallenge.
We hope you will join us in encouraging your children to keep reading this summer.

RRSA Article of the Week: Article 22
If a child is seeking refuge or has refugee status, governments must provide them with appropriate protection and assistance to help them enjoy all the rights in the Convention. Governments must help refugee children who are separated from their parents to be reunited with them.
The focus surrounding this Article is World Refugee Day. World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. It falls each year on June 20 and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. Children will learn about possible events that might lead to children and their families becoming refugees such as natural disasters, family disputes or problems, changes in weather and droughts/famine which leads to a lack of food and water.
Here is an activity you can do at home. Watch this video explaining what a refugee is. Can you create your own film or a simple PowerPoint presentation to help other children in your school understand what it means to be refugee?

Avanti Fields Art Department Exhibition: Summer 2024
Welcome to our first Avanti Fields online Art Exhibition. Over the final weeks of the Summer Term the Parent bulletins will feature an Exhibition of our student’s Art work. Each week we will showcase work from a different year group. We are proud to begin our series of online exhibitions with the work of our Yr11 GCSE students. This exhibition features at least 2 pieces of work from each Yr11 GCSE student. Over 2 years our GCSE Students produce at least one coursework unit, culminating in a final piece on the theme of Our World or Journeys. You will also see work from their Exam projects. Students begin their Exam for Art in January by responding to a theme given to them in the Art Exam paper. Over the following 10 weeks the students will produce a sketchbook of work culminating in a final piece produced over a 10 hour period around Easter time. The results of which can be seen here. The exam themes this year included Space, Gardens, Shopping and Celebrity. You might like to guess which pieces relate to which theme and what inspired the artists? The diversity of our student’s work can be seen in their personalised responses to given themes, the range of media used and the range of ability of the students. We are proud to enter the work of all our GCSE students for the exhibition and celebrate the diversity of outcome, experience and ability. Well done to all our Art students for their efforts. We hope you enjoy viewing the work.
Every week we will upload exciting Art works from our Year 11 GCSE students keep checking.
Thank you
Mrs Winter, Mrs Marshall, Mrs Walshe, Mr Westwood and the Art Students of Avanti Fields.
Y 10 GCSE Avanti Fields Summer Art Exhibition

We hope you enjoy,
Avanti Fields Art Department.
Year 9 Art Students Summer Exhibition
The following artworks are a selection of student work from Yr9 artists at Avanti Fields this year. Yr9 students have studied the work of local artist Tim Fowler when responding to local architecture as well as creating ceramics in the style of artist Lucy McLauchlan and taking inspiration from more traditional artists such as Georgia O’Keefe when learning about colour and abstraction. Their final project of the year is all about Heroes, where our students are encouraged to personalise their learning about Portraiture by drawing their own Hero. We hope you enjoy.

Phone: 0116 326 6813 (Option 1 to leave a voicemail)
Please remember to state your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.
All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child’s academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.
The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.
This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.
