Principals Update
This week we celebrated National Thank a Teacher Day! It was lovely getting to share the wonderful messages from our community with the staff at Avanti Fields. Your messages were beautifully written and put a smile on many faces. Thank you!
This week we welcomed our new staff for their Induction Day. It was lovely to meet this group of enthusiastic and inspiring set of educators; we have staff joining in both primary and secondary, as both teachers and support staff. For new SLT and primary colleagues, they also had an additional induction day to support their transition into their new roles.
On Tuesday we were pleased to host our incoming Reception parents for an information afternoon, followed by a Stay and Play later in the week. We’ve also had our primary pupils on a visit to the Gurdwara today and are looking forward to the Year 11 Prom this evening. Our Year 9 adventurers to Plas Gwynant are coming back later this afternoon and we are excited to hear their stories from the trip next week.

RRSA Article of the Week: Article 32
Governments must protect children from economic exploitation and work that is dangerous or might harm their health, development or education. Governments must set a minimum age for children to work and ensure that work conditions are safe and appropriate.
The focus surrounding these Articles is ‘World Day Against Child Labour’, which is on the 12th of June. This day is intended to promote and encourage the growing worldwide movement against child labour. You may want to talk about why children should be protected from working, especially in dangerous conditions. Some possible reasons include:
- Their family should have a good enough standard of living without them working.
- Children should be in education.
- They should have time to be a child and have all their rights.
- They should have time to rest and play, and to develop their talents
Here is an activity you can do at home.
Ask your family, grandparents or older friends if they had a job when they were children. What work did they do? How did their work impact their rights?

Year 11 GCSE students Art Work
Avanti Fields Art Department Exhibition: Summer 2024
Welcome to our first Avanti Fields online Art Exhibition. Over the final weeks of the Summer Term the Parent bulletins will feature an Exhibition of our student’s Art work. Each week we will showcase work from a different year group. We are proud to begin our series of online exhibitions with the work of our Yr11 GCSE students. This exhibition features at least 2 pieces of work from each Yr11 GCSE student. Over 2 years our GCSE Students produce at least one coursework unit, culminating in a final piece on the theme of Our World or Journeys. You will also see work from their Exam projects. Students begin their Exam for Art in January by responding to a theme given to them in the Art Exam paper. Over the following 10 weeks the students will produce a sketchbook of work culminating in a final piece produced over a 10 hour period around Easter time. The results of which can be seen here. The exam themes this year included Space, Gardens, Shopping and Celebrity. You might like to guess which pieces relate to which theme and what inspired the artists? The diversity of our student’s work can be seen in their personalised responses to given themes, the range of media used and the range of ability of the students. We are proud to enter the work of all our GCSE students for the exhibition and celebrate the diversity of outcome, experience and ability. Well done to all our Art students for their efforts. We hope you enjoy viewing the work.
Coming next week …. A selection of Yr10 Artwork from their ‘Our World’ project.
Every week we will upload exciting Art works from our Year 11 GCSE students keep checking.
Thank you
Mrs Winter, Mrs Marshall, Mrs Walshe, Mr Westwood and the Art Students of Avanti Fields.

Phone: 0116 326 6813 (Option 1 to leave a voicemail)
Please remember to state your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.
All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child’s academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.
The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.
This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.
