Outdoor Learning is when Year 3 pupils go out into our school grounds and learn new outdoor and camping skills creating things using what is naturally found in the environment. It is run by Miss Barnsdale who explained it to us, “Outdoor Learning is when Year 3 children learn how to be independent, confident, learn forest skills, team work and much more. During Outdoor Learning the children never get bored because they are always having fun but it also helps them become more mature and responsible. They do all the activities by themselves but if they need help I show them how to do it.

We spoke to Shashank in 3A to rate the Outdoor Learning, and he said, “I will give it 9 out of 10 because I‟ve become more l confident and we are learning a lot of things we didn‟t know before like how to tie different kinds of knots. It was difficult at first but after learning it we find it really easy. We have learnt how to make rafts, learn how to live outdoors and how to recognise different trees. I really enjoy learning new skills so if we go camping and forget our tents these skills will help us make one.

Vidhi from 3B was also very enthusiastic. “I‟d give Outdoor Learning 10 out of 10. I enjoy making new things like friendship bracelets, photo frames, rafts, tents, dream catchers and more. I like learning these skills so if I am ever in a forest I can use them. I am so happy that we get to do these activities.
There you have it. Clearly Outdoor Learning is a big hit with Y3s.
