Principals Update

This week I attended an AST leadership planning day to discuss the upcoming few terms, as there will be some changes at Trust level. It was reassuring to hear that school-based priorities and a number of core Trust improvement priorities will be unaffected. For summary, please see below the following timeline of changes:

  • James Biddulf joining as CEO designate from May 2024, taking up CEO responsibilities from May 2024
  • Nitesh Gor, current CEO, beginning to shift his focus to the Avanti Way and further developing spiritual insight within our schools from May 2025
  • Mike Ion moving on from his role as Education Director from December 2024

A big congratulations to Mrs Rajpara for completing her HLTA qualification and to Mrs Bali for completing her NPQLL (Leading Literacy) qualification. Both Mrs Rajpara and Mrs Bali have been committed to their own professional development and I am sure will continue to use their knowledge to further enhance the outcomes for our pupils.

Year 8 – Girls Cricket Team

Well done to the year 8 girls cricket team who came second in the tournament this week. We beat Crown Hills with 9 balls remaining and we just lost out to Rushey Mead who beat us by 12 runs. The girls were amazing and we have some very talented cricketers. Priyanshi took three wickets in the first over of the game which was incredible and some consistent performances by Yamee and Tashvi in the field. Our player of the match went to Nirali for her excellent performance overall.

Absence

To report an absence to the school, parents should contact us by 8:00am (primary) and 8.30am (secondary)

Email: [email protected]
Phone: 0116 326 6813 (Option 1 to leave a voicemail)

Please remember to state your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.

All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child’s academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.

The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.

This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.
