Principals Update
Yesterday evening’s sad announcement of the death of Her Majesty the Queen means that we have now entered a period of national mourning. There will be many different emotional responses to the Queen’s death with many thinking about parents, grandparents and great grandparents who have lived long and fulfilled lives.
This event may prove very upsetting for our communities and in particular our young people. Minded is a source of information to support children and young people to manage death and loss so please click on the link for more information
Once details of the funeral are confirmed by the Royal Household, we will write to you with further guidance and information.

Y7 CATs, GL and reading Assessments
Year 7 students will be completing their Cognitive Abilities Tests (CATs), GL assessments in English, maths and science and reading tests over the next few weeks.
The CATs is a suite of tests developed to support schools in understanding students’ abilities and likely academic potential. Results from CATs will be used to inform individual and group teaching, for target setting and monitoring the performance of groups of students. CATs assess the ability to reason with and manipulate different types of material and therefore students are not expected to revise for these assessments.
Please can parents / carers remind your child to bring in headphones (not wireless headphones) for these tests starting on Monday 12.09.22.

Please remember to state your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.
All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child’s academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.
The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.
This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.
