Principals Update

This week has seen the deadline for our Year 9 students the make their GCSE option choices. We have supported their choices by hosting an options evening last week, and then held our parent consultation evenings this week. The next steps for students will be to meet with senior leads in small groups to confirm they understand the requirements of their courses and how their will support their next steps to education and employment.

Our Year 11 students have finished their final round of mock examinations. The feedback they receive on these assessments will support their final preparations for their exams in May and June. Linked to this, year 11 parents have the opportunity to attend an exam stress workshop next week.

Finally, on Thursday night we virtually welcomed the incoming Year 7 students and their families to Avanti Fields and outlined the plans for our transition programme.

Vrindavan and Haridwar Dham on yatra (pilgrimage)

Hare Krishna Everyone!

We’re very excited to announce that we will be taking a group of visitors to Vrindavan and Haridwar Dham on yatra (pilgrimage) from 15-26 Oct 2023! That’s 11 nights during the Oct half term break!

Once you land in India, everything will be taken care of for you! 🤗

This yatra will be specially catered for families and children so as to make it easier and more enjoyable for them to connect with the sacred and holy land of Bharat!

Our priority is to take KAPs and Avanti Fields parents, staff and children (who will have grown up together in a sense) and give them a chance to have this joyful spiritual experience together.

We’ll be visiting many holy places and hearing about the significance from special guests and local Sadhus!

I can guarantee it’ll be a spiritually enlightening and transformative experience, one that will leave deep positive impressions on the mind. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for our children to establish connections with the spiritual gifts of India and to solidify our Dharmic identities while making life long friends and memories!

Spaces are limited and the flight ticket prices will keep increasing (which you have to book yourselves). Before I open it up to others, I’d like to give priority to Avanti Fields families.

If you are interested, please get in touch ASAP for more info on 07872469754.

Sincerely,

Mrs Kishori Jani (Sanskrit Teacher)

Contacting the School

Communications – Wherever possible please use the contact form on our website to get in touch. This is detailed on the website at https://avanti.org.uk/avantifields/contact-us/. The appropriate member of staff will pick up the message and get back to you as soon as possible.

Absence

To report an absence to the school, parents should contact us by 8:00am (primary) and 8.30am (secondary)

Email: [email protected]
Phone: 0116 326 6813 (Option 1 to leave a voicemail)

Please remember to state your child’s full name, tutor group and reason for absence. If your child is unwell, please could you give a brief description of the symptoms.

All education research highlights how crucial it is to a child’s academic progress and wellbeing they attend school , on time, all of the time. Therefore, a reminder that it is important that families organise events or holidays outside of school time to ensure that their child is at school as often as possible.

The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer at LCC, and we do seek to ensure that any requests for authorised absence are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in a sensitive manner. However, the school can never authorise a family holiday or a trip abroad to visit family members during term time.

This academic year, families will have two weeks at the October half-term, three weeks at Christmas and two weeks at Easter for extended family holidays. Please do ensure that if booking holidays, they fall within the holiday periods.
